•1 Turn on the water as hot as you can take it. Make the water as hot as you can for better sanitizing power. Stop up the drain so that you make a pool of water to use to wash your dishes.

•2 Squirt a small amount of dish soap into the hot water or directly onto the dishes.

•3 Get out a clean sponge and wet it.

•4 Choose the dish that is the least dirty to begin cleaning. It will help keep the water clean as you wash the dishes. Glasses are the best dishes to start with.

•5 Scrape off as much food as possible before you put the dish in the water.

•6 Soap up the dish and scrub at it vigorously with the sponge to get it clean quickly.

•7 Rinse with warm water.

•8 Put the dish on a drying rack to dry, or enlist a friend to help you dry them with a clean soft towel.
